Description
Students build their own solar ovens and put them to the test in a temperature challenge, discovering energy transformations in action! After construction, we head outside to see how well each oven performs. All activity materials are provided by the Energy Office—participants just need to supply any food items they’d like to cook.
The Louisiana Office of Energy’s Be Energy Smart program is thrilled to bring FREE Virtual and In-Classroom Lessons to K–12 students across the state! Our lessons are hands-on and designed to spark curiosity about energy and conservation.
Cooking with Solar – Students design and build their own solar ovens, then put them to the test by making s’mores or nachos!
All About Oil – Students become engineers as they build and test their very own model oil rigs.
Renewables vs. Non-Renewables – A NEED Project favorite! Students play the Candy Collector game to explore how we use different energy resources.
Squishy Circuits – Students dive into the world of electricity with fun, hands-on circuit-building activities.
